Question and Comment

Question - I have pure calcium in my tank and every poop has a small white (assuming calcium) 'deposit'. Since my leo, Dot, is regularly eating her calcium, do I need to dust her crickets with it or just use the vitamin dust? Thank you

Comment: What a wealth of info this site has been!! I really appreciate the dedication so many people have to keeping their charges healthy and happy. We have started feeding Dot gut loaded crickets and it has become high family entertainment to watch her shake her tail and hunt them down!!

the 'deposit' you're seeing when she defecates is acutally solid urates... basically, it's a reptile's urine. They don't urinate like us mammals, they eliminate solid urates instead.

Keep dusting her feeders, and offering pure calcium at all times in the tank.

Yes i agree, Keep dustign as for they need D3 and vitamins in there diet just not as often. You should be dsting about 1 a week. I also agree about the Poop subject! haha....

It'sa riot watching them eat. I have 6 and it's awesome. I have actually even got to watch 3 of them shed, so it stays cool. Haha
