Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone here could help me out. I've got 4 leos, and I love them all. My one leo "Spazz", can't ingest any food because her esophagus appears to be clogged somehow. I don't feed her anything that's too big for her to swallow (at least I don't think so), I keep them all on paper towel substrate, and I replace the paper towel once a week to keep it clean. I don't know how this would have happened. I see the little dark spot on her underbelly so I know it's similar to impaction, albeit in a different sense. I know about using mineral oil, and warm baths to help dislodge ingested particulate when they become impacted, I've rescued 2 of them that way before (I made the mistake of using crushed walnut shells). Is there some way to clear her throat? After using mineral oil, it sounds like Spazz is trying to regurgitate, should I continue along this path? If possible, I'd like to avoid a vet as they love to rob you blind for things like this. Thanks all!

Take the gecko to a vet. She's distressed and very possibly dying, and you're worrying about money?

Your first priority should be getting her healthy again, and from what you described, medical intervention is the only thing that will help her. When you bought her, you took responsibility for her, and that means that if she gets sick, you're responsible for helping her get healthy again. And yeah, vets are expensive... but is your gecko not worth it?

i would also suggest a vet ,,,

and i would recommend cleaning her cage out everyday ... not once a week .

Hi I'm sorry, I didn't mean to give the impression that I won't go to a vet, I'm perfectly willing to do so, I just meant that I would rather explore other options that could possibly work rather than just go and drop x amount of dollars when a home remedy could have sufficed.
