I don't breed mine so take my opinion for what it's worth. But I've had many babies here before. I think 1/4" is too big. But I always err on the side of caution.

Pinheads are really tiny and I think they are too small. You can get 1/8" or 3/16" too. Crickets at that size grow fast so if you order 3/16 they will be 1/4" in a few days. I would order 1/8" next day air when you get the first hatchling. By the time the babies will be eating they'll be 3/16 most likely. After a few weeks you'll be able to safely go to 1/4".

I use southerncricket.com if your supplier doesn't sell these sizes.

Just a note- orange baby foods (like carrots and squash) are REALLY HARD to get out of clothing. *grin* (when I brought my baby dragon home, I still fed her baby food occasionally. She looooved it. Still does, actually...) And she wasn't the neatest eater of baby food. Admittedly, the little dragon prints she left on the carpet *are* really cute....

What type/brand do you give your dragons?

Not sure of the brand, one of the organichealthy ones The label was light yellowish with green numbers (indicating the "level" of the food) Kleio loved the applesauce and the squash.
Like I said, it's messy and I used it mostly as a treat when I would be home all day, so I could feed her and then give her a bath and clean the tank and stuff before lights out. Otherwise the food would cake on her and she'd run thru it and then get food and sand caked to her feet and stuff.
I also used it when she was hesitant about eating her greens-- I'd mix them in with the babyfood and then gradually add less and less babyfood and more greens until she eventually ate the greens without a problem.
