i took this today 1 hour ago...

see the white specs on his head? could that be something? mites? infection? anything? i don't notice them just looking at him but, on every close up picture i take, they are there... usually. could it be artifact from the camera due to the flash? it cannot be a lens artifact because his head is not always in the same place in every picture. any help would be appreciated. over 70 pictures and they are in just about every close up. ill post pics more later.

Dust...Dust...Dust...nothing to worry about.
Are you using aspen?
I get those little dust flecks on occaision as well.
And I know my snakes do not have mites.
A lot of times you see a photo oportunity, grab the camera and flash away but if you can actually take the time just wipe the head before photographing.

sweet! so now i know to just wipe his little head. that snake is the newly acquired "mistreated" one, so i was just making sure it was actually nothing. here are some more shots... sorry bout the dust, lol. i feel dumb!

poor dusty guy! LOL!

yea, he kept making his way to the edge of my dining room table and crawling underneath it onto the beams holding up the table top so i couldn't mess with him... so i just took his picture there...
