gopher snake question

shuggie728 Feb 13, 2007 03:28 PM

I recieved 2 gopher snakes as a rescue.
Both have been quarentined and have a clean bill of health.
I am wondering if the two can be kept together in the same cage if the cage is large.
I have a 60 gallon.
The snakes are different sizes. The biggest is about 4-5 ft and the other is about 3 ft but is rather skinny compared to the larger one.

will they try to eat eachother?
etc

Mine never have. Make sure you seperate them for feedings and keep an eye on them when you re-introduce them to each other afterwards. If they size difference is great I wouldn't suggest doing it for too long though. Its probably 99% safe, but never 100%.

Ditto on the post-feeding precautions. Gopher snakes are real chow hounds, and w/ their "eat first ask questions later" mentality you want to avoid accidents.
