skin problems in normal ball

goregrind Feb 13, 2007 05:00 PM

one of my ball pythons has a wierd skin problem. it started about 6 months ago (it started as just flakey skin)

the skin on her back a few inches behind her head is flakey and some of the scales dont look right.

on top of her head is like that too but, she actually lost a scale.

under her mouth she had two very small scabs, looked like rub marks from feeding, but they dont look like their healing.

any thoughts? im also going to have it checked out by a vet.

First, I am glad that you are taking your BP to a vet to look into this further.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is just a strange manifestation of a skin rot/infection. A couple of years ago, my oldest BP had something similar, though it wasn't as severe as your problem sounds. I cleared mine up with daily applications of an antibiotic ointment to the affected areas. She didn't enjoy it, and I had to pretty much degrease her cage once she had healed, but she is happy and healthy now.

Good luck!
