something really weird happened,after i gave him water,it seemed like he was hick uping and then he opened his mouth and held it open for a few seconds,then he looked like he was gonna puke(his mouth opened up all the way and he looked down) and then his tongue came out of his mouth and lowered down about 4 inches out of his mouth...everything about him seems ok,but that was really weird,not sure what to make of it...hope some of you have any ideas..could he of swallowed too much water??could somethin be seriously wrong with him??i just had him at the vet about 3 weeks ago for the first time and did a feces exam and came back clean..the docter also said he was one of the healthest looking chameleons hes ever seen..could he have a respitory infection or somethin??really tring to figure this out,cause i was really really shocked when i saw him do that.

one of my veileds did this after eating once. he got 3 crickets with one shot and i think what came bak out was 1 2 or 3 crickets mushed together, but he has been fine ever since. very healthy animal. maybe this will help, maybe not. i hope he is ok!
He probably just aspirated some water (down the wrong pipe) and is working it out. It happens sometimes during mistings.

hey,thanks for the replies,glad it isn't really serious,or soo it seems..but i have noticed him look like hes hick uping when hes drinking,and sometimes right before i first feed him like 2 hours after he wakes up.i've noticed that quite a bit..but yesterday was crazy,he never did puke and i never saw anything coming out of his mouth besides his tongue of course..i really hope hes ok,wish i could know if somethin was wrong or not,but it can be sooo hard to tell..well i hope i can maybe get a few more opinions about this,cause i really don't know what to think..

I think sometimes chams need to "rearrange" their tongue muscles to get ready to eat or drink. Many of my chams do this occasionally. Chams have a relatively small stomach and no sphincter between the stomach and esophagus. If their stomach gets too full (too much water for example) it can back up into their throat and possibly get down into their windpipe. One of many reasons to offer more smaller feeders instead of one or two huge ones.
