EVENING POST (Bristol, UK) 13 February 07 Pupil's Plea For Snake Snatched By Burglar
A schoolboy is appealing to a burglar to return a pet snake stolen in a break-in at his house.
The corn snake called Chaos, more than 1.5 metres (4ft 11in) long, was snatched from his glass tank, which he shared with a similar, but smaller, snake called Persia in the living room of Jake Wright's home in Bradley Stoke.
Both snakes are orange and black but are non-venomous and harmless.
Nine-year-old Jake, who has been keeping the snakes for two years, said: "I just want the thief to bring Chaos back.
"I hope someone will recognise the snake from the picture and let me know where he is."
Chaos is the second snake to be taken from Jake's home. About three weeks ago a Californian king snake was taken in a similar break-in.
Police are appealing for information about the burglary, which happened sometime between 4pm and 5.30pm on Thursday in Jordan Walk.
Avon and Somerset Police spokesman Ian Drury said: "Several items were stolen including a corn snake.
"Corn snakes are often kept as pets but it is extremely unusual to hear of one being stolen."
If you have been offered the snake for sale or have any information about the burglary call the Staple Hill burglary team on 0845 456 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
