NEWINDPRESS (India) 14 February 07 Snake catcher Ningappa dies in Harapanahalli
Davanagere: He was an 82-years-old person and an expert in catching snakes. He had caught over 50,000 snakes, but his end came because of snake bite on Monday in Harapanahalli.
Kappe Ningappa, a resident of Saleraoni in Harapanahalli town was known for catching snakes. Native of Hubli, he had settled in the town after working as actor in many drama companies.
According to neighbours of Ningappa, he was ready to go to any place to catch snakes and he was called Kappe Ningappa as he had the ability to swallow tadpoles and take out them. For his social service, Ningappa was felicitated at many places in the town. After his wife left him, he was residing alone at Harapanahalli town.
As usual Ningappa was called to catch a snake near KPTCL office this Monday also. He rushed there and caught the snake.
While trying to release it, the snake bit the thigh of Ningappa. He was rushed to government hospital where he died later in the evening.
Fixed Deposit: Ningappa had deposited Rs 5,000 as fixed deposit to be used for his funeral expenses. He also deposited Rs 5,000 for conducting mass marriages at Tegginamut Gramina Vikas Trust.
Chandramouleshwara swamiji of Tegginamutt, Manager Chandrashekaraiah, MLA Parameshwara Naik, Chandrashekar Bhat, district KSP secretary Ramprasad Gandhi have condoled the death of Ningappa.
