wayne13114 Feb 15, 2007 12:26 AM

I was wondering if anyone knew an approximate breeding size for a female eastern milksnake. I have one that is about 18 inches long thanks in advance for any help

I'd say 24" would be the minimum size for attempting to breed females, and shoot for a length of 28" or longer. Here's a youngster I found in Maryland in 2004.

I was lookning around your web page and I aee you went to Big Savage park. Where did you find the Milk?

It's actually Savage River State Park. Most snakes (racers, DeKay's, ringnecks and milks) on this trip were found under rocks in clearings made for power lines.

When I was getting into coastals I was told be the old hats that 22" was a good minimum size. I would imagin that easterns would be good to go around that plus 2-4".
