New Blood

cooljosh Aug 11, 2003 09:29 AM

I have just entered the world of herpetology with the purchase of a CB Malaysian Blood Python from Snakesn'Adders in Leeds. She is 39 cm long weighs 70 g and is an extremely friendly and polite youngster. Is there anyone else in Scotland with a liking for these fantastic pythons?

Well i'm not from scotland (not even close!) but congrats on the blood! I only have one right now, but i'm hoping to change that here in the next month or two! Hope everything is going great with your first snake, but watch out, they're addictive!!! Any pictures of her? That's great that she has such an even temperment, especially since it's your first. Let us know if we can help with anything,

Hi Denise,

Thanks for the link. I am thinking of getting my daughter a Royal nest year from Stephen from the herp society if he manages to get it feeding! Are they really as difficult as people say?

Hiya
Is it Steve Winterbotham you are talking about? I got my first Royal from his breeding and she is my biggest and best feeding girl) He makes sure they are feeding well before you get them, or at least he did for the one i have. I got her when she was about 3mthsish. I have 8 here but 9 in total and 5 are feeding and 4 are not. In saying tho, I imported 4 from the US and its 2 of them that havent fed yet, they were ALL on Live and 2 are now on F/T and 2 Im still trying to switch to f/t
Yes they can and go off food for long periods of time and it can be very frustrating, it certainly frustrates me, but as long as they are healthy and not losing too a lot of weight its ok.
I have 2 kids too aged 9 and 4 and they both love the Royals, I always have helpers for clean time LOL.
Have you been to the SEAS meetings in Livingston?? http://hop.to/seas
Meet some cool folks there, we had a Harris Hawk at the talk last month, it was an amazing creature)

Anyways cathc you later

Hi,
Steve Winterbotham it is! Have you come across Dave Blatchford? Steve gave me his name as another snake expert, he also supplies mice and rats etc at a good price. My 9-year-old turns 10 today and we are going to see Terminator 3 on Sunday so we will not make the SEAS meeting this month (thanks for the tip), but it is in my diary for September- see you then.

Peter

ps any pics of your Royals anywhere?
