Interupted Birth.....

zoocrew Feb 15, 2007 02:13 PM

Due to poor breeding techniques of a previous owner, my Redtail Boa recently started the birthing process then stopped, resulting in the passage of 1 slug. I,ve given warm baths and massage and even tried her regular diet to initiate birth again. Any suggestions or home remedies before we go the surgical route? replys appreciated and answered. THX !!

Is she still real swollen in the bottom portion, like she is still loaded with babies?, can you give some more details of husbandry that took place with other owner, etc..........Doug

I don't have alot of info on the previous owner and actually now trying to find him in Tampa area. I live in Jax, Fl. He bred her w/redtail and she's between 3-4 y.o. She's under weight to be breeding but he owned a reptile store and had her in with 2 other females and 1 male. My son has had her probably 4-5 mos. and she's been in my house about 2 mos. I can feel 3-4 lumps still near the end of her tail. I have an appt. with a reputable snake vet this week. Currently she's not in any distress but I would like more info for this experience. I pretty much taken over care of all the snakes.

I fully agree with you that a good "reptile vet" would be the best course of action............good luck with it and the others!.......................................Doug
