Trying again>>> What is a Midnight???

FireDrake Feb 15, 2007 02:53 PM

MY post must have been deleted????

Anyways, OK, I asked what makes up a midnight... I understand blizzard is a simple recessive, so is the midnight a selectively bred trait? I have seen adds for het midnight babies.... And where do I find them?

Thanks

Sarah

from what i have read and by the questions i have asked the color phase that you are asking about is nothing more than a murphy patternless incubated at a low temp which causes the the leopard to be much darker in apperance.

I always heard "midnight blizzard" a blizzard incubated at low temps....no such thing as a het.

A midnight blizzard is the result from line breeding dark colored blizzard so dark bliz X dark bliz = verid blizzard babys pick the darkist then start again.Darkist baby X darkist baby = darker blizzard babys or darkist baby X dark perant = darker blizzard baby. You end up with a near black blizzard that can't turn back to a whiter blizzard no matter what the temperature is or the mood of the gecko always stay's dark = that's a midnight blizzard.

Yep, couldn't agree more, definately a line bred trait at this time. I have been working myself on this project with a few of Crestedgeckos and a few that popped up from other sources, got a nice collection now. And I don't agree that incubation temps are a factor in "true" midninights, a lot of my darkest are males that I incuabed much higher than the females.
