Kiddie pool?

CTU2fan Feb 15, 2007 04:19 PM

Just wondering if anyone's used one of those kids' pools to house turtles outside. The ones I'm looking at are maybe 4ft. in diameter, not sure how deep though. I was thinking it might work because they have a drain and would be easy to empty & refill. I'm in central Florida so I'd be able to keep them outside most of the year I'd think.

I worry about the water getting too warm, but I've got a sort of side patio area that's covered, I thought I could put it there so the direct sun all day doesn't overheat the water.

im actually using one at the moment in a terrapin, and they like it alot. i got some rounded planter box bricks to make a bridge to get in and out easily and seem to know what they are doing. dont forget to stick something in there for them to go under

i had a 60" kiddie pool pond for awhile...it worked great but even with a pump it got icky and green. the turtles didnt care, they were happy!! it got hot, they lived fine. they were RES, they can handle anything.
