My beardie died

amyjk Aug 11, 2003 10:02 AM

I called the vet this morning, and they told me Bryce had passed away this morning. I am going to pay my $35 and pick up his body so we can bury him at home. My oldest son is pretty upset. In the few days we had him, he became really attached to him. So I am thinking of going ahead and purchasing one for him. I have read so much these past few days, so I am pretty sure I know what to look for. There is a reptile store about an hour away that takes awesome care of their animals (I occasionally have to go there to get pinheads for my baby frogs) so I am going to call them and see what they have, and maybe go look. I will let you guys know what happens. Thank you for all your help.

I am so sorry about your loss. You did what you could for the little guy by getting him to the vet. Sometimes you just can't help them.

Hi
i know losing a beardie is hard to deal with .
i dunno how old he whas?
and the setup and historie?.
but i would go look for a breeder instead of a petshop to buy a beardie from.
try to buy a 2 month beardie atleast and not to young.
also clean the cage where the other whas in very well disinfect it .
i know if a beardie have parasites and you put a other beardie in same encloisure they also get parasites then.
thats why i saw make the cage clean very well.
where you life??
am duth but i know many people in usa who breed awsome beardies .

soak everything the baby dragon was in, Use bleach or ammonia 30 parts water to 1 part bleach, rinse and soak it in clear water than allow to air dry in a warm area.

Do not use any food items, like crickets that were every in with the baby that passed away ( I am sorry you lost him :'( )

Forgive me if I am remembering wrong, but I think you said this one was given to you from a store?

If so, do not buy a dragon from them.

I don't think this baby had an ear infection

The symptoms you described are common ones found in dragons that have a very contagious virus that has been going around pet store for over a year now and it fatal, if not within a few weeks of being exposed to it, it will lurk there and eventually fall the dragon. SO anywhere that one has been ... all the dragons there would be infected, even if not showing symptoms.

Never hurts to be really cautious when purchasing dragons from anyone, but especially pet stores.
