SHEDDING QUESTION?

bowhunter1963 Feb 16, 2007 08:26 PM

Hi,I have a reverse spotted female king. She's seven month's old and I've had her since the beginning of this year. She has shed twice in the last month and both times she has poop in the shad.Is this normal? My male sheds just fine and he is the same age. Thanks for any answers.

It's not unusual for that to happen. When snakes shed, the skin is turned inside-out, and so if they defecate while shedding, you get feces inside the shed. Mine has done that on several occasions with no ill effects. It makes removing the skin and the feces easier. Hope this helps.

Boy!!,...twice in one month? that thing is growing like a weed!LOL,...anyway, yes the poop thing inside the shed can be very typical. What happens, is when the snake is ready to shed, it is often motivated to get moving around by the need to deficate, so they often happen at the same time........................Doug

Thanks for the replies.I didn't think it would hurt anything just wanted to make sure. They are growing like weeds. The female is 19" long and the male is 20".I feed them two pinkies every 5-6 days. The male is getting ready to shed again also.
