Tail Injury- HELP

JFo Feb 17, 2007 12:59 PM

My western box turtle has a small wound on the tip of his tail. I've cleaned it w/ antiseptic, applied Neosporin and put him inside to observe/keep clean. Is this a huge issue? What should I watch for? Should I try to bandage it? My gut says to wait for it to stop bleeding, crust over and put him back outside (too warm in SoCal to hibernate). I've never had a turtle before (found him in the back yard last year, no idea where he came from here in the city, someone's lost pet I assume). ANY advice is greatly appreciated. I have no clue about turtles. I can email a pic if needed.

Keep it disinfected. Make sure you keep your turtles water VERY clean.

If it gets worse then take it to a vet. If its getting better, then you should have no worries.
