Parasites

I was curious about what the signs of parasites are? How are they treated? And lastly, are they contagious to other leopard geckos? Thanks,
Arielle

The symptoms for an internal parasite infestation would be:

decreased or complete loss of appetite
regurgitation of food or shedded skin
diarrhea or blood in stool
loss of fat stores in tail

If you have any question that your gecko is ill, I would recommed you take the animal & a fresh stool sample to a vet that specializes in reptiles. Ask that the fecal be tested for Trichomoniasis(pinworms), Coccidia, & Cryptosporium. It's best to get on top of something like this ASAP.
It's been my exsperiance that Crypto can't be detected by the fecal floats in most vet offices so they would have to send the sample to a lab.
But it is important you find out exactly which one you dealing with because they all have different treatments. If you do end up with a problem, the vet can perscribe you with the proper meds & treatment routine.

And yes, all three of the above parasites are contagious.
