New baby Apricot Pueblan

805Ringo Feb 17, 2007 09:54 PM

I just got a really beautiful baby apricot pueblan, and she is really racey! I think she musked me too. (Or peed...) Do these ever calm down? I assume she will once she gets use to her new home and alittle older. It's the first of her kind I've had and I just want to make sure. Thanks.

That's not only normal,..it's expected !!, most Milksnake hatchlings typically do this for a short time,...but with gentle handling will stop doing this after a while....let them be for at least a two day period after feeding also, to prevent them from regurgitating,as baby milks are nervous.....hatchlings do best in a shoebox sized container, with a little "hide- box" so they feel very secure....they also do well at around 79-83 degrees. This helps them digest their meals better....Also, can't stress this enough,.....make absolutely certain there are no gaps, holes(except small melted holes for air) and loose fitting lids,...if you even wonder if he can crawl through it, it can!!!LOL......hope this helps you on your way!,.........Doug

sigh of relief... DMong,
I've been reading the posts and I see you're quite experienced with these beauties! The process in becoming a good competent herper has to be one of the best & fun studies to undertake! Thanks for taking the time for sharing the knowledge because I'm more familiar with boas and pythons. The musk thing is very different for me. I was SO GLAD to read that "Cortez" can grow out of 'fear-stinking' me when she reaches her comfort levels here in her new home!
