Try the mexicana forum, some of the people there post here but there are more there that can help you specifically. Mine are kept as all my kings. What works for getula should work well for thayeri, besides you already have a mexicana, the grayband. Care is the same.

Especially the "peach/orange" milksnake phase you have!!, Those suckers were VERY expensive when they were first hit the market!!........I had one die on me while it was eating a lizard!!!, I went back in the snake room about thirty minutes later to check on his progress, and the lizard was still no further down than it was when I left!!, I reached into pick him up, and he was dead as a door nail......man was I pissed!! I can only assume that he didn't adjust his "glottis"(air pipe) correctly off to the side, and he wasn't able to breath!...that always really "baffled" me.....It was a brand new hatchling, so maybe there was some kind of internal deformity, I don't know, but he was awesome looking just like the one you have!, best regards,.............................Doug

I can't wait until I see more of them this summer poking their heads out of their eggs. I still have a few more 2006 that I'm holding until spring.

You will see that "thayeri" has an almost endless variation of
"looks", which is why they are aka "Variable Kingsnake", as most of the "mexicana" complex has...they have good temperments, and are relatively small(around three feet).......What else is neat about "thayeri", is the fact that you can get a number of VERY different looks from the offspring of the same clutch of eggs,...................................................Doug

Vivid Reptiles and Sierra herps both have some excellent info on them. They are great snakes. Check out my site too. I've got a fair number of pictures.
