Stenoductylus Petrii Qs

Dakman Aug 11, 2003 11:15 AM

I recently aquired 2 females. Theve been identified as Petrii's. They appear to be doing good, ones gravid. ive seen and got conflicting info on them.
1) Ive heard they have a whip tail but yet ive seen pics of some with thicker tails, which is correct or is captive care fattening them up?
2) should their substate be pure sand or a mixture of 75% sand and 25% soil or ground coconut husk. should the sustrate be keep moist(lower couple inches) for tunnel digging. mine do dig alot but the current sand alone wont allow for tunnels.
3) ive heard they need humid hides and ive heard they wont use them? What kind landscping should i use?

I appreciate any info experienced keepers could provde so as i provide the best home possible. here a pic of one if any one diputes its a Petrii.

Thanks, Jim

1) Id definately try to fatten them up, especially if ones gravid. I feed mine crix/mealworms/waxworms. 2) I use 100% reptisand, and fully mist it once a week. 3) No, they dont need/use humid hides, but prefer to shed under moist sand/corkbark. landscaping: I keep mine in a 10g, corkbark, driftwood, waterbowl and 2inches of sand. For heating, I use a 50W bulb, and a UTH.
