Is it just me, or is it infuriating that pet stores sell hatchlings that look smaller than mine were at only a week old?!?!? They're selling them to people with 5 year olds who want to buy the $5 feeder anole, but their kid wants the leo, and then they claim to have all the equipment when they don't, just so they can take home the poor creature at the drop of a dime (almost litereally!!!)

Just looking for a general opinion. I mean it's nice to be able to raise your baby, but how young is too young?

Yes it happens all the time! Nothing we can do unless we would own them stores or would at least be workers there but a majority of the workers don't have any clue either! Sucks!!

Ya, it bugs me to. I don't like seeing fresh out of the egg leos being sold in pet stores. Personally, I feel most comforably selling then at about 6 to 8 weeks old (depending on there size). But what fustrater me more is when the geckos get to decent size & age the retailers feel they are to big for them. That puts me in the position were I have to sell them at a younger age then I'd like too. I've found if a hatchling is eating good & passing food ok you can get away with selling them at 2 to 3 weeks old but that is on an individual basis & to someone I can trust to house them properly.
What I don't get even more is I can have 2 animals same morph & price the only difference is one is 3 months old & one is 6 weeks old. Odds are the 6 week old will sell befor the 3 month old.
