rooting plants

Has anyone ever tried to grow ficus plants from clippings? I've been trying it for a bit and have had zero success. I've purchased some root stimulator and followed the instructions, but the clippings have dried up. I read somewhere about the clippings and having them grown roots to transplant them but can't find it anymore.
