Update on the burned ltl girl.

fattiesnleos Feb 19, 2007 03:45 PM

well its been a little over 24 hrs now and she still looks the same. hehe. but the good news is that she pooped twice. you may remember i noted that she had been on sand. the poops were kinda sandy looking but i think it is good that she is pushing them out. they were also good sized. i am hoping this means that there is no blockage. soo anyways ill update again soon.

Ouch that looks painful. I must have missed the original thread about this girl. May I ask how she got burnt?

well i went to a new herp store in san diego on saturday called Reptile City. the store is really nice and so is the owner. i was walking arround looking at everything when on the bottom rack, in the back of the store this little girl was sitting. i noticed she had shed stuck all over her feet and something just didnt look right. i couldnt yet see the mark on her back but i asked to see her so i could get the shed off her toes. the man said sure and told me her story: someone had lost interest in her and about 4 other leos. they brought them into the store to get store credit and never came back. he said the others were fine but she was in poor shape. he said this person was kind of shady and looked like he had been shaking the poor things in their cage, on sand... any how he sold the rest.
i pulled her out to find this big huge scrape/burn on her back. i dont really know what its from but its ugly. she only has 3 toes that are still intact from poor sheds. i asked for some neosporin (which he supplied) and i applied it to her. he said i could have her because while we were talking i expalined i how i have 30 others and he felt i could fix her. he gave me a good deal on a large kritter keeper for her and a good deal on some of the new flavored crested gecko diet. so anyhow thats all i know of her but she is supper sweet. she also has no yellow on her at all. i wonder if the old owner may have stolen her from somewhere because she would make a nice snow.

So sad! Glad you are taking care of her. Yea sand is a horrible substrate and i honestly can't believe anyone uses it. Just putting my herps in any sorta risk sounds dumb. Why pay 100 dollars or so for something you are slowly killing. Just doesn't make any sense to me. I use paper towels, put i think ceramic tile is the best and closest to their normal habitats.
