What can we do to help?

Libra85 Feb 19, 2007 03:55 PM

My b/fs snake has not pooped in like eight months. He finally bought more heat and he pooped slightly, but what else can we do to help the snake go to the bathroom more?

Has it been eating? I would soak the snake in a warm but not to warm bath for about 20 min, while it is soaking I would keep running your hands down its body. You may need to take it to a vet and get checked just to be sure. 8 months if it has been eating is a very long time.

In addition to what melindaste told you (which is accurate) I would add that there was a thread posted yesterday, "Impaction?" where I explained in detail some of the things you can do, and when to call it a problem. This is the URL to my reply in that thread:

As melindaste also mentioned, if it really has been 8 months, and the snake has been eating regularly in that time, it probably IS a reason for concern. The age of the snake, the actual time elapsed, and the feeding regimen make a big difference in the severity of this case. Read over what I wrote in the other thread. That should help you in deciding when to talk to a vet.

Good luck! I hope this helps!!
