possible problem

goregrind Feb 19, 2007 04:30 PM

my ball (who hasnt eaten since early december) shedded last night and on the paper towel i found sperm plugs and blood, once in a while i find a little blood around the anus hole on the shed but this time there was quite a few drops n the paper towel.

was this caused by sperm plugs, not eating in a while or something worse?

probably from the sperm plugs. my male was doing the same thing for a while (he hadn't eaten since december either but he finally ate last week) but he's just fine.

so, you probably have nothin to worry about

As Jenny said, you probably don't have a problem. It sounds like you definitely have a male though. Plenty of Ball Pythons go off their feed this time of year (though females seem to do this a lot more often than males). With your male being off his feed, he's probably just got the idea that he wants to breed and isn't interested in food.

With the signs of blood around the cloaca, it sounds as if he could have already been breeding. Am I remembering correctly that you house(d) your two Ball pythons together?

If anything, THAT may be your possible problem. If I remembered that wrong though, it probably doesn't mean anything.

No worries. Just keep offering food about every week or two. He should change his mind eventually.

Good luck!

Normal looking?

LMAO!

I'm so new to all this, that I have no clue what one looks like, at all.

Next time, just take a pic & email me so nobody thinks you are gross (like apparently I am, lol).

My baby ball ate tonight.
