Feeding

Delusionalmind13 Feb 20, 2007 12:14 AM

So You Guys Told Me That My Leo Was Thin..
And You Told Me About Five Crickets At Night Right?
My Question Can Leo's Of Feed And Get Sick Or Will They Eat Untill They Are Full And That's It?
Cuz The Crickets I Had Most Of Them Were Really Small So He Ate 9 Of Them, Is That Ok?
And, Do You Guys Put The Crickets Right In The Cage?
Mine Is Lined With Papertowels So Some Of The Crickets Get Under There And Don't Come Out So I Have To Interupt His "Hunting" And Chase The Out From Under The Papertowels.
And Also I Don't Know If Mine Is Old Enough To Determine The Sex Yet, But It's One Thirty In The Morning So I Will Take Pictures Tomorrow And Maybe You Guys Could Help Me And Also I Don't Know If You All Seen The Post Were I Got More Stuff But I Got The Book "The Herpetoculture Of Leopard Geckos" By. Philippe de Vosjoli And Ron Tremper, And Also I Got Rep-Cal Phosphorus-Free Calcium Ultra Fine Powder....

So Sorry This Is So Long That's It For Now..Thanks And When I Get More Set With This Stuff I Seen A Albino Leopard Gecko>>(I Think)
At PetSmart That I Want!

Yeah they will stop when they are full. So keep feeding him. So 9 is a lot but he or she must be very hungry. Just dust them regularly when ur feeding them and he should be ok. About crickets under paper towels just continue to do what ur doing i guess it sounds fine.

Leaving the crix in the tank is fine, they are nocturnal and so is your leo, he will hunt at night and most of the time wipe out all the crix. I usually put 10 crix in each tank for the day and they will eat them as they please. I also feed mealies as a treat about 1-2 times a week.

Noo offense but i would not be looking to get another one until you figure this one out and get it all right.

Nice job buying the book, although you should of had it BEFORE you bought the leo. Did you put a PURE calcuim dish in the tank??

yea i have the calcium in the tank and i don't plan on getting another one untill i know all about them...and you put the crickets in during the day and leave them there all night also?

i thought crickets will bite them if they are in there for to long?

i also got a Night Glo, Moonlight

Actually usually before u go to bed since they are nocturnal. However i mix it up and he eats them during the day too. Just make sure the crickets arent messing with the gecko like biting him or whatever they love to do. Since they can get on their nerves at times.

Yes i leave in over night, usually there is only about 3 left when i go to bed, so i am not to worried, they tend to stay on the opposite side of the tank then the leo. Red bulbs are better for them then the blue/black lights!
