Jan:
Nice shots. I especially like the shot of the ladder snake. They're so great looking as juveniles.

What kind of mouse is that.

Regards
John

I agree, R. scalaris are a fantastic species, as are those quats too. I really enjoyed those pix, particularly the scalaris.
Thanks for sharing.

Hopefully the adults should be able to give a nice clutch again this year. 6 juvies hatched in 2006 - and they adults are being hibernated at the moment.

As for muenteri - i have two juvies from german breedings 2006. They should hopefully be ready to breed in 2009

Greetings Jan,

I wish you luck with both future breedings, the largest clutch (unfortunately infertile) I had with scalaris was from a large female, she laid 22 eggs. I believe the record is cited at 24? She hadn't been bred from that year (2002). The largest hatch rate I ever got was 7, the previous owner I believe had 8, if memory serves. I would get 8 eggs from time to time but probably due to admittedly poor incubation lost one or two from the clutch.

I do love this species (and all quats/Euro rats), someday soon I hope to keep them again.

Its really great to see more of these snakes on the various boards! Look forward to seeing more of your Ladder babies this season and look forward to seeing those muenteri babies in 2009!
Regards,

Great photo's Jan and beautiful snakes, I especially like the muenteri,it's not a spp. that we see that often in the UK. The quats are a great species so gentle.
