red boa...

killr_silhouette Feb 20, 2007 07:01 PM

you know, with all the hypos, color variations, patterns, etc etc...

i'm surprised someone hasnt made a red tail boa that is completely red like the tail...

that would be an impressive animal i think!!!!

does anyone know if someone is working on that or if it has/can be done?

what do you guys think?...

it would be like a bloodred boa...and that red on their tails is a pretty impressice color in itself...

just a thought

These are from our redline. The color transfers over real well, even within the first generation. This is a female that was born last year. Can't wait to see how she turns out; this line produces more color as they get older. Trey Schneller

Now, all you got to do is clean them up......killer snake

whosnext Feb 20, 2007 09:33 PM

the way. These are F-1's. Breeding trials to begin in the Fall '07. Should clean them up a bit. Please don't take the following to heart as it is not meant to upset or offend anyone. I refuse to tear them apart with "pastels". Not only will it remove the speckling but it will washout the color to a pale what everybody else has! Here is a late 04 male. They actually clean up over time. That red comes thru the black in the lateral tale also.

Take care,
AJ

That picture looks better than the one I posted for sure. The one I posted was after the first shed. Trey Schneller

Thanks for the complement! We haven’t bred the redline into any pastels, just nice normal females. We are expecting some more this year if the litter turns out o.k. We like the redlines dark and red too and will be experimenting with their full potential in the near future by breeding them to other morphs. We thought it would be a good idea to continue to make F-1's for the time being in order to be able to put them into our favorite morphs. Here's an F-1 female that will be ready to breed next year. The F-2's are going to be killer and the F-1's from breeding the dad to his daughters should be awesome too. Here is the same female from a year ago. Pretty dramatic I'd say. Trey

I've been checkin out your site for quite some time now. If you get some cluthes and have some babies for sale this year i'll definitly pick up a couple. I just love your line, i wouldn't even need to breed them into other morphs i'd be happy with them as they are....though i might be tempted. Exactly how do these genetics work? Have you ever bred one of your redlines to a normal? If so what did the littr consist of?

Thanks, we’re glad that you enjoy them as much as we do and keep up with the website. Everything we have produced with them involved the original red male and normal females (completely normal, no real color to them at all). We assume that once we start breeding these animals into other colorful normals, sunglows, hypos, jungles that the combined effects will result in extremely colorful animals. As for genetics, it seems like all the animals in the litter have splashes of color, there are usually 6-7 in the litter which have extreme color, so just about half. We’ll leave the genetics at that for now, but once we get around to F-2’s next year we should know a little more about its true nature and if it the genes have combinatorial effects. All the animals end up with some color, even the ugly ones. We had a hard time moving this really speckled male, and he didn’t have much color, but by a year and a half he had gone pink/purple with some really good color tones and is now in our permanent collection. Seeing as how blood is actually a dark red, ive got a pretty close one for ya.... got a better pic with sib once I figure out how to shrink it. The upper portion of her tail is pretty close to the overall color of the snake, at least until it turns yellow near the end. I love her, def unique to me. Oh yeah, she's a salmontine from Salmonboa.com. Pics courtesy of him since I dont have a cam yet..... Jon Runde
