White sided Granite

Creaturesofthenight Feb 20, 2007 10:51 PM

With all the interest in the Pieds lately, I thought some of you might like to see what I hatched last season. This was from a Granite to Granite breeding. I have 2.3 held back that all show this.

Those are definitely showing the same pattern of white that I see in the pied-sided bloods I have from Don Soderberg.

All of the babies had the white? If so, that's really great, because it looks like this may be a simple recessive trait, and if it is...Murphy certainly smiled on you!

May I ask from what lines the parents descended?

Great looking animals...I may be calling you soon, Michelle!

All the babies showed it to some degree. Some of them just looked extremely diffused on the sides, but you can tell the white splotches mixed in upon closer inspection. These originated from Brad McDonald stock I believe. If Im not mistaken he produced them first. I know Don has some, but from what he told me, he doesnt think the two genes are the same.

After talking to Don about these animals, he told me that there is another line of pied sided animals (not allelic to his line), which is poduced by someone that sees them only among anery snakes.

If that's the case, then that may be what your animals are too. They look the same, but don't produce pied sided babies in the F1.

Great! We miss Powder (the blizzard) she was a sweetie. Actually the pic of the baby blizzard in one of my other posts was one of her kids I kept. I plan on breeding her to an Ice Ghost this year.
Good luck with your projects as well!

That's very cool. I made a post last week asking why white-sided corns haven't turned up yet. I reckon I got my answer!

Thanks for posting,

Tim

Tim, you just said "That's very cool. I made a post last week asking why white-sided corns haven't turned up yet. I reckon I got my answer!"

Can you please go to the Milk forum and ask why Striped Hondurans haven't turned up yet?
