not a corn, but... (dial up beware)

xblackheart Feb 20, 2007 11:47 PM

this is about the only forum I post on. Here is what I got at a bird and "reptile" show (that had 3 reptile tables).
I got two variable kings and an anery mexican night snake to pair with my het anery mexican night snake. And to keep it on the corn forum, a couple pics of my daughters (favorite) corn.

the male, the color I wanted

the future pair

I was told this is a "milk snake phase" variable king (the only female he had left)

The anery night snake

And my daughter's corn

Black rat snakes are a good start for going off the corn path! lol. They are friendly, pretty and very much like corns (pretty much the same except in color IMO). I have kings(a few different kinds), corns, milks( a couple different kinds), Ball pythons, rat snakes.
If you want something with a bit more attitude, go with a cal king. My female is as tame as a corn, but her babies have all been very fiesty.
If you want something better to look at, a milk would be good. They dont seem to like to sit still, though, so not as good at being handled. But, they are beautiful. From my experience, when milk snakes bite, they dont just strike and release, though. They chew!!! lol.

your male is a smokin' leonis!!! love the head pattern!!! the female is a nice msp- looks similar to mine!!! its funny b/c i have the same kinds, just reversed sexes. great minds think alike!!! AND if you breed them together they will have mixed offspring a little of everything!!! that night snake is freaky but cool looking and of course your snowy is just as cute as its owner

hey Kin. Seems we have a few snakes in common! I will tell my daughter what you said about her and her snake.
The night snake is very cool looking. The normals are very bright in color, if you remember me posting before. Very much looking forward to their babies!!

Misty, all are beautiful, but I really love that milk snake phase thayeri you picked up. That is an outstanding example. Why can't I find one like that at a show?

HiYa Misty,

Looks like you did pretty good for a show with 3 tables!

Lovely variables - those are always good lookers.

I assume you know the night snake is mildly venomous and rear-fanged? Still harmless, but a little extra caution is not a bad idea. BTW - what do your nightsnakes eat? Will they take pinkies? Do you have to scent with lizard?

Cheers!
John D
