NEED ADVICE - ARS Baby Rack

CCReptiles Feb 21, 2007 12:17 PM

Hey all,

I usually don't post much, instead I just read and try to learn. But, now I need some advice. I'm looking into some baby racks, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some info.

I'd like to know how the humidity levels are on the ARS baby rack, model number ARS1075.

If you have the rack, would you say you are happy with it? Any problems I might want to know about before I buy one?

Any info would be very helpful. Thanks in advance to those of you who respond.

I don't have an ARS rack but I do have the Animal Plastics Hatchling rack. 9 levels, 3 boxes per level. Every box slides in and out smooth and has a small gap. Even the tiniest red milk hatchlings don't get out. The fit is so perfect that I had to drill holes in the shoeboxes to control the humidity. I started with just 4 small holes and added until I got the right amount of humidity without losing too much heat. 8 small holes per box worked perfect for ball hatchlings. I highly recommend the racks from AP.

I have an ARS baby rack and I love it. Ball python babies love it especially because it actually acts like a hide box. Humidity is perfect. The only 'down' to it is the size of the deli-cup. It holds the normal size 8 oz cup. It takes up a lot of room on the 'floor'. But even with that, I keep babies in there until they are about 400 grams. Look real hard at these. By the way, I got the gray plastic boxes with built-in cup holders. I would buy another one in a heart beat. For the money, you can't get 75 enclosures of this quality any cheaper.

I know your post is asking specifically about ARS and I don't want to sound like an advertisement and I have no direct experience with the ARS hatchling racks so they may be the absolute cats a$$. However I have a couple of the 60 tub vision hatchling racks and I absolutely love them. Humidity is perfect and the tubs are larger than most racks and can accomodate hatchlings up to about 500-600 gms. The tubs do not come with a deli cup holder, but an 8oz deli cup cannot be tipped over inside the tubs. I plan to buy a couple more in the next couple weeks to accomodate all the babies coming. I have three 18 tub phillips shoe box racks that are in perfect shape but I have retired then because I like the visions so much better. Good luck however you end up going.
