I'm thinking about getting a curly tail, and read online that they don't need UVB lights? Is this true? And does anyone know about what sort of substrate they need? I really can't find much in the way of care sheets on them . . . thanks!

Not sure if they actually NEED uvb, but I would certainly guess they do since they are a diurnal, basking animal. I have one on my little one (pool rescue from the summer) and she is doing fantastically. For most of the day, she can be found up on her rock basking under the light. She also eats gut-loaded crickets and has made a meal of some very tiny house geckos, so be careful if you keep yours with any other critters. We call her Curly-Zilla due to her ravenous appetite. I keep her on BedaBeast (coconut fiber) mixed with some CalicSand so she can dig in every night. They definitely like to burrow, so whatever you use make sure it's diggable.
Good luck!
Billy
