Just a note, I found Tiger dead the other day, I have no idea what happened to her, she had laid eggs about a week ago, and was eating fine. She wasn't injured at all, I just found her laying on the floor next to her water pond. The other sad part was I was hoping to incubate these eggs, but she laid them in her pond again. She was my first water dragon, and very special to me

How old was she? Do you think if you took her to a vet they would be able to determine why?

that really sucks. i remember your pics of Tiger when she was a little WD.
WDs can be odd like that though. Gator just stopped eating all the sudden. didnt eat for 3months. he was on the verge of death. then all the sudden he started eating again. and he now is looking the best he ever has.
are you going to get anymore WDs?
i believe Michelle still has some little WDs from Spyro's first clutch. if you want i can give you her email.

She was about 3 years old, I had her since she was a baby.

What a beautiful wd...what a shame
I know you said she layed her eggs in the pond...did she perhaps need the warmth of the water to aid her in laying them (it's supposed to relax the muscles, and animals know this instinctively)? Could it have therefore been neurological?
If you decide to ask the vet for an exam to let you know what the cause was, let us know, so we can learn from it.
I know you just built that massive wd rom too.
Again I'm very sorry

I'm so sorry about your loss... I know how hard it is to lose a dragon
It's sad you couldn't incubate the eggs , it would have been nice to keep a little part of her ...

My own female is eating fairly well , but she doesn't get fat the way she was before she laid her eggs . She is still very skinny , I hope she'll get better once ...

Good luck with your remaining dragon(s?)
Sarah

I am very sorry for your loss. It's hearing things like this that really terrifies me. I know you're a good parent and I would really be interested to hear what exactly was wrong (if you ever find out). 2 dragons in a year right? I'm wondering if it is something in their environment (though I know they just moved)...Although, if I remember correctly, Max was eggbound right? Best of luck with the rest of the clan. I feel your sadness.

dsgnGrl Aug 13, 2003 09:21 AM

Yes, it was just a few months ago when Max died from being eggbound. My thought with Tiger is that it was a combination of things, first I was away for 2 weeks, then we moved them to a different house all while she was gravid. She always laid her eggs in her pond, this was the fourth time she had done that, even though she had dug a few deep trenches in her dirt.

I'm sorry for your loss. Do you have any idea what might have gone wrong? Could she have possibly become egg bound?

That is very sad news indeed. I know how close I am with Asia, and it is heartbreaking to think about. So very sorry for your loss.
