Hatchling PICS - After 22 Years Waiting!

PATMAN Feb 22, 2007 09:12 AM

Here ya go everyone!

Pictures of my newest hatchling 3 toed box turtle.

I've had the mother "Clyde" for almost 23 years now and this is the very first hatchling I have received from her!

I didn't have a mate for her until 5 years ago, named Rudy. She mated with him on and off and laid a number of infertile eggs. So I thought she was infertile.

Then in November 2006 she laid 4 eggs. These turned white and were fertile! It's been very exciting time waiting for one of these eggs to hatch from my very first pet turtle, that I bought in 1984!

Well enough talk! Here are the pictures... be sure to let me know what you think!
I think she has an awesome shell pattern. :D

Oh yeah, there's still 8 more eggs from Clyde that I'm waiting for to hatch. These were laid at different times, so some will hatch in a week, next month, and in April or May!

Congratulations! That baby is adorable! Was the mama an adult when you got her? She's just one year younger than my daughter!

AWW *squeals*

What a cutey.

I'm so glad my turtle is small. Sometimes I wish he would stay little forever.

PATMAN Feb 22, 2007 05:58 PM

Yes, she was an adult when I bought her and looks pretty much the same then as she does today!

Congrats! I remember the first time I got hatchlings. I didn't have to wait 23 years, but it was very exciting.

hey Pat, I think I have your little ones twin..
yours has nicer eyes though. congrats!

PATMAN Feb 23, 2007 04:25 AM

Hey Rouen,

Your right! They do look like twins! I notice that many 3 toed hatchlings for sale out there are just a plain brown color. I guess were lucky!

yup, I've got a couple of the brown ones as well, do you have any pics of the male she bred with?

PATMAN Feb 23, 2007 02:18 PM

Here's a picture of the father of the hatchling. He's on the right of the picture. He has also mated my other female 3 toed on the left and has made similiar colored hatchlings with her as well. He's a real stud!
