Is this normal for a whites?

cold_blooded Aug 11, 2003 01:44 PM

Hi. I have had one of my whites treefrogs for 2 1/2 years and ever since I have gotten him, he has been very active at night. He has a great appetite, and I feed him in a seperate tank, which he seems fine with. He will even take crickets from my hand. Even though he eats a lot, he never seems to gain much wait. He is not fat, but he has a little bit of fold over his eardrum, and he isn't sucked in or anything. He was croaking last night to. I only ask because my female is quite a bit fatter and not very active at all, and she doesnt even eat that much.could it be because he is so active? He seems very very healthy...he croaks!

Sounds OK to me. My male is quite a bit thinner than my female and both are happy. He's the first one down for the food and sometimes he gets a bit pushed out by her because she is a pig.

But I always watch him feed and make sure he has had enough but he is no where near as big as her.
Some frog are active and some aren't, a bit like us humans lol. Some are gym junkies and some are not.

You've had your froggies for over 2 years now so you should have a fair idea about the personality of your frogs, what they behave like and how they act. If you really believe it's outside the norm, maybe check it over with a vet to make sure.
