Joel (or anyone) another question about babies eating greens/pellets

dragonlady1954 Aug 11, 2003 01:51 PM

Well so much for my babies being raised totally cricket free. My son decided to drop some 1/4 inch crix into the tank (while I was at work) and at least 5 of the babies ate them. Now that they have chased down crix I am afraid they will be more inclined to bite wiggling toes/tails. I can't decide now whether to just go ahead and feed them the crix or try to get them to eat the greens/pellets like I had originally planned to do. What do you all think?????

Why not still try?

Their response to moving things is instinct, you can't do anything to prevent or bring that on. Genetics has a part to do with it too. Some lines tend to be more cannibalistic than others.

Give it a shot. You can give them all the crickets in the world and still wind up with nips.

Good luck.

I give all my dragons pellets. But I also give them crickets too. The pellets are ussually used as treats or when I run out of crickets. I belive a dragon should have the opertunity to hunt. if they dont get to chase down crickets then you eliminate most of their daily excercise. They all have the natural instinct to hunt so toes and tails are no exception. I would just make sure they are fed very well and seperate any bigger more dominate dragons. This is just my opinion, Ive heard of people raising their dragons on just pellets. Im sure more people will add more suggestions that may suit you better.

peace,
nate
