Very poor land for turtle breeders

dakbung Feb 23, 2007 12:04 AM

Hi I'm Korean(south). Here is very poor land for turtle/tortoise breeders. Lately, our government built up laws strengthly so all petshops are careful against government. It get worse especially tortoises (sulkata, leopard, hermans, etc...) In Korea, tortoise's kinds are poor. Only Star turtles(india), Sulkatas are common. If someone wanted other kind, he would be very careful and getiing process would be so hard. Besides, tortoise's prices is expensive. Here is difficult land but a few breeders are keeping there's little creatures with a firm resolution...
Lately, I bought Radiated tortoise very hardly and I'm so happy now. He is not quite good quality but I love him so much! Next time I'll show his pictures.

I wish Stars were common here. I would love to have one.

Welcome! Congratulations on getting your tortoise, even more so because it was difficult.

What part of Korea are you from?

It is interesting that keeping tortoises is unusual there. My impression of much of Asia was that small animal keeping of all kinds was common (fish, birds, insects, etc.)

I have a Leopard and a star- I love them like they are my children! Id love a Radiated but they are expensive here in the states and the licence isn't cheap and easy either! Good luck with your new addition to your family
