What size rodent does a newborn BRB eat? Pinky rats or pinky mice?

My Brazilian Rainbows get either a pinky rat or a hopper mouse for their first meal. I raise rats and so always have pinky rats available. Many of the new babies will eat them but some pass them up and I have to buy them a live hopper mouse. These snakes can eat amazingly large meals. They can and will eat large adult mice or fuzzy rats as their first meal but there is increased risk of regurge with meals that are very large.

I have given them hopper mice within a couple days of birth. Really depends on the litter. The ones that I feed a larger meal are larger full term babies.

My typical meal is a large fuzzie mouse or a small hopper mouse.
