cagemates for ackies...

BIGTANK Feb 23, 2007 03:11 PM

hi..
my ackies live in a 4(L) x 2(W) x 3 1/2(T) terrarium.. I´m wondering.. ackies spend most time in the stacks or ground, some times they climb the branches looking for food when they see me... so, is there any gecko that could live with my ackies...? most gecos are on the walls or branches all day...

so, what you think guys..??

thanks

Rick

That is a pretty creative enclosure idea. Nice job!

Years ago when I bought my first Prasinus ("G monkey", the guy I bought him from housed him with a green eye gecko.
I thought what the #$%@!
He went on to say they never had problems together, I have nor ever will do this for obvious reasons mentioned already.

Keep in mind niether Monitor or Gecko was properly being cared for!

Once I obtained "G monkey" and placed him in a "proper" enclosure I can guarantee you Da Gecko would have been history!!

Hehehe. Ackies do like little geckos for food. I have a handful of brown anoles living in 2 of my Argus enclosures. They apparently were living in the holes and bark of some wood i added to the enclosures. The Argus tongue flick them when they move, but haven't eaten them yet. Must not smell like the regular menu. The anoles are thriving in there too. They enjoy a few house crickets and superworms. too hard to catch them and let them go back outside.

I keep a small knight lizard in my storrs cage. I found it in my backpack after a campout in the desert. He eats all the baby crickets that are born inside the monitors cage. He hasnt been eaten yet and hes been in there for about 4 months now. He is never out when the monitor is, so its not dumb!
He seems to be doing great, super fat and really aware. Basks at almost the same temps as my storrs too. hahaha even though its a night lizard. Too bad i put him in there for lunch hahaha. I dont like killing any other lizard even for food, but where i live i think the lizard would of died if i let him go.

cheers,
Sean

Its pretty interesting how the night lizard will stick its head out of the stack and look around just like my storrs monitors do.

He also likes the top stack alot, its pretty hot. People put too many rules on these lizards. You would think that a night lizard likes cooler temps, but it doesnt hahaha.

cheers,
Sean

Post a photo of these bugs, sounds like dermestid beetles.
If so remove them, they are flesh eaters as well as crap eaters.
A photo would be very helpful.
