Nippy nippy BRB!!

fatbot_n_beets Feb 23, 2007 04:57 PM

Just got her at a reptile show. About 2 feet, beautiful, and appears to be in perfectly good health. But FEISTY...was told she's CB, though her temperement makes me think she may be WC. I go to change her water and she's ready to strike. Not just ready, she tries...over and over. Any suggestions on how to tame her?

Move slow around her, handle her for a few minutes each day except for two days after she eats but let her settle in your hands don't feed hand over hand yet cuz she'll bite ya. If she moves out of one hand just feed your other hand from UNDERNEATH her and she'll be fine. After a few sessions she'll be calmer but more than likely the guy you got her from only fed her and never took her out so she is not accustomed to being held. Everything will work out fine but remember if she bites you it won't hurt you so don't leave her alone after she strikes cuz she'll remember that striking lets her be alone so just pick her up after she strikes but be slow and gentle. Instead of your hand you can use a long pencil or something if you don't have a snake hook. There is also a Rainbow sub-forum if you scroll up a little on the boa forum too. Hope it helps.
