Boiga availability?

Chance Feb 23, 2007 09:29 PM

Have I just been out of the loop long enough that Boiga have become so unavailable as to demand such a big price? Seems like just yesterday when you could get mangroves for $60 ea and that was still kinda expensive considering how long you'd be able to keep them before they were finally able to starve themselves to death...

Chance,

I agree, I haven't seen Boiga for awhile myself.

But normally Boiga are very hardy, (at least in my experience).
I think I have lost one (a neonate,) out of the many dendrophilia and blandingi that I have kept over the years.
Maybe you recieved some that were badly dehydrated or had some other unknown problems.

However, they are still neat snakes and I wish there were more available today.

I guess I was just surprised when I saw a pair of normal dendrophila on the classifieds for 1k the other day. I was thinking...surely they haven't dropped off the face of the planet quite to that extent. But then I realized I hadn't seen them around like I used to. It's kind of a shame more people aren't trying to breed them, as they're incredibly interesting, beautiful display animals. That, and I hear blandingi can get ridiculously huge!
