I'm curious to find out if females only ovulate after being bred by a male, or if they ovulate every winter even without being bred? Does breeding stimulate ovulation? I ask because I recently got 2 WC females and one has either 4 large follicles (pre-ovulation) or is already gravid -- I can't tell which. This is my first year breeding and I've already got one gravid female that I watched go through the entire process -- from locking up, to having 6 good follicles, to glowing, to building, to ovulation, to her pre-lay shed, and now she's laying inverted. I know where she's at because I've been here for it all. However with this new girl, I don't know what to expect from her. She's extremely chubby in the last 2/3 of her body, has a pot belly when I look at her from the side while holding her, and I can definitely feel 4 large, round lumps inside. Basically everything I see with my other girl. Is it possible to feel eggs, or only follicles? I haven't tried with my other gravid female for fear of hurting any viable eggs inside her. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!
