If you prefer Boas to BP's, it's a good trade.

That depends...
Do you already have an adult female boa ready to breed and just need a breedable male? If not, you may find yourself trying to find one. Adult females can be pricey, compared to babies (which need 3-4 years to reach breeding size/age)

(I don't know about bal pythons)
Is your female at or close to breeding age? He may be looking for a short cut to breeding ball pythons. So what do you get out of?

If breeding is not an issue:
If you have a BP and would prefer a boa (and he has a boa and prefers a BP), then go for it.

Id say its a toss up of what you prefer. A female in the 500-600 gram range is not ready for breeding for another year at bare minimum. A male redtal at 5feet and 3.5yrs is very ready for breeding. How about temperment? Is the redtails good or bad? Healthy? Id say its even if all is well and go with what you like best.
