but I was kind of in a hurry sooo. I found the spider I wanted, did the usual visual health check, and bought it. Not much small talk. I asked for a card and he didn't have one so he wrote his name and phone down for me. His name is Jason, thats the most I got.

I stood in line for more than an hour and an a half, but i found what i wanted. An 06 100% het pied ball and an 05 normal female to start my breeding collection.

You need to come to the Anahiem show, probably will be close to 80 degrees.

1 medium rack
1 hatchling rack
1 male cinnamon pastel
and nearly a case of frostbite standing in line.....LOL!!!!

jyohe Feb 25, 2007 06:52 AM

.........hhhmmmmmmmm...........he )you both) have more balls than me.......better ones.........

frostbite?.......was he wearing sandals?........otherwise we're both pretty well insulated........

...at 7 am it was cold.....by 9am I was happy and outside smoking without a coat on...............I bet it was over 20F by then.........

........I wonder how many burms and retics and all kinds of other stuff will die in a month from being taken outside in 16 degrees in a rubbermaid plastic box.......or less..........

styrofoam and heat packs really need to be utilized alot more often.........(that reminds me...I need new boxes ).........

..........I didn't/couldn't actually look around at all.........I really wanted to spend some money but didn't /couldn't see what I needed.....I went around like 3 incomplete times without much luck at viewing alot.....

.......see you soon enough........

How do people keep their snakes warm at these shows? I've never gone to one (seriously) so I have no idea.

A bunch of healthy, happy snakes.

jyohe Feb 25, 2007 05:51 PM

they don't...........it was 61 F at my table at start of show....I waited till last minute to put snakes on table from boxes......
.........then I sold them all in 10 minutes.......LOL......

really.........it was 16 outside and 61 in...at front doors it was colder....the doors hang open for 2 hours then one stays open all day......some tables were warmer....heaters above some make it warm.........

it got warmer ......thousands of people tend to heat a place up quickly........squishing and sqeezing and bumping into each other like wandering lost ......LOL..fools?......

some actually bought stuff.........some just like the zoo affect.....

........line down to the end of the fence till way after 1........traffic all messed up all over town...parking....anywhere possible...(I was in 4 th row.LOL.).......took some people 2 hours to get in door after they reached the town limits.......

wow........

Hamburg .......bigger better.........well......we need bigger place with 4 times the parking.......

....anyone have an idea....?........

I can't speak for others but I thought of two ways I will heat my displays if I ever do a show in cold weather (which I don't see doing). The regular acrylic displays can easily have heat rope or small strip of flexwatt run underneath and controlled to 75-80 degrees depending on what you have in the display boxes.

It's been a while since I did a show but I used to use a slant front neodesha for some larger animals (the small size 2'x1'x1'). I had flexwatt under that hooked to a thermostat.

When our animals travel the car is always heated and they are all in insulated boxes, At the shows the overhead halogens we have keep things really warm, all of our snakes stay very warm too the touch all day under the lights in the displays. We have never had a problem with shows in cold weather...
Hamburg was great February is always the best show every year.

It was a vendor's dream come true. People, lots of people, who actually was interested in animals, and not just a cheap petting zoo. Most shows have turned into that. Not that I am complaining, but it's nice to cover the expenses of doing a out of state show. I hardly got to take a break all day long. With Vendor Acrylic displays and ball pythons to sell, I think this was be best Hamburg show in a very long time. I already paid for my tables for the next show!
It was also nice to pick up the female ball python I won by betting with Kim of NARC on the Colts vs. New England play off game. Thanks Kim! Now, if I can just get the folks to pay up who lost the bets on the Super Bowl!!!!!!!
