terryd Feb 24, 2007 08:44 PM

Here are a couple more shots of L.t.multistrata.
I'm no Ansel Adams, but I like this head shot.

Bighorn co. MT, F1 male, 2 year old.

Very nice South Dakota Pales Todd. Where are they now? Any idea, I'd love to get a line on a few more SD animals. Outside of hunting some up myself in SD, which I'll be trying to do this spring when I go to NE.
Thanks for the photos,
-Dell

F1 female Bighorn co. I don't think I've posted this girl.

I don't recall who mine went to. Maybe Ric Blair? I originally got them from Jeff Hardwick in a trade for some syspila. I think he got them from a friend of Ted Thompson (the temporalis guy) on the east coast.

When are you planning to hit SD and NE? I'd like to make another trip out there this spring if I'm able to. Maybe we can hook up. I had a blast last time I was in the black hills (no pales, though).

Hi Todd,
I'm not for sure on the dates for a hunting trip to NE, SD, but some where in the first week of May or first 10 days of May. I'll know more as May gets closer.
That would be great if you showed up. Would you drive from CA.? Long haul for you.

I don't think those SD Pales of yours went to Ric Blair, as I have been to see him a few times and he has never mentioned them, or he moved them on and never said anything.
I e-mail w/ Jeff H. quite a bit and he has never said anything about SD Pales to me. But maybe I need to make a point to ask him directly if he keeps SD Pales still.

Let me know what your thinking about on the SD herping. I'll bet we can work out some dates that work.

Nice turtle (and nice hat!). Yeah, I'd drive out. It's a haul but I don't mind the road. From here to Salt Lake is kind've a slog, but going across Wyoming (esp Rawlins-Casper) is super nice, love the scenery.

I'm not 100% whether I'll be able to come out this year but I'm gonna try to make time. Early May is my target date as well, weather depending.

If you want to hit me on email it's palemilk AT yahoo.com

terryd Feb 28, 2007 02:53 PM

Sounds good Todd, I'll email you when I know more about what dates I'm looking at.
I know what you mean about scenery in Wyoming, I used to have a girl friend from Casper. God the drive was long and boring.

Yeah I'm not really a cowboy hat wearing guy, but when I work on blazing hot days it can't be beat. Plus the chicks dig it. ha

Here's another hat the babes love. Suribeam catfish, but screw the catfish look at how cool the hat is.

I love those! Great pics! Awesome looking snakes. That's awesome to be able to see them in the wild. What time of year's best to run into those guys up in SD? I'd guess summer or fall. Never been out that way so don't know if the springs are cold or not.

These snakes are great, glad you like the photos.
Yeah, early(end of April)spring to late spring(early June)seem to be the best times to find Pales. Check out fieldherpforum.com if you like in the field shots and chatter. A lot of talk about fieldwork and great photos too.

Not this time but one time I lifted this board hoping to find a Rattlesnake and found a Palemilk sitting w/ a Rattlesnake. I didn't have my camrea with me then, wish I had.
