New Breeding Loan Idea...

TV1891 Feb 24, 2007 08:44 PM

So, I have a big dbl het snow male hanging out with no mate. I have been considering what to do with him; I don't want to sell him cause he won't really be worth a stupendous amount and I don't want to buy a female cause I don't have a lot of time to get involved in breeding at the moment. Here's my idea: how about a hybrid breeding loan? Something along these lines:

---I exchange the snake for an initial period of two years. For the next two years I am entitled to the pick of the litter and the litter must result in a mid-level or better morph. If in that period at least one or more litters are born, the snake then becomes the property of the person who received the dbl het.

Does that seem like a cool deal? Obviously all the details would have to be worked out.

If you can find someone willing to do that I think it would be great for you.

I'm confused. You send your male off for two years. Someone takes care of him feeding, husbandry (cleaning up after him) and paying for his rent (lights, water, food) and you get the pick of the litter every time. They then get your snake if a morph comes out? Sounds like you should sell him or something cuz that sounds like plans to get rid of him. If he is worth it then sell him and buy your own morph with the money but if he's not worth it then try the breeding loan but keep in mind like the last post- it sounds good "for you". Just my .02

i'd think loans should be completely equal to each person involved. You may supply the snake, but he/shes supplying the money and time invloved to breed that snake. I'd never agree to thos terms, or i might and then pick the best out and put them aside before you come over to check out the clutch... j/king, I'd never do something like that. Never ever... not in a million years...nope????

If you can find someone to agree to that then go for it, but i doubt anyone will.

Pick of the potential litter for two years in exchange for ownership of the male in perpetuity and retention of all of the rest of the potential cluches for the rest of the male's life span doesn't seem fair? I thought that it was weighted in favor of the owner of the female...I guess maybe I have a skewed view.

It may be fair, but it don't seem equal. I wouldn't want to breed a snake for two years to own it, I'd rather work for a month and save then by it myself, and then get to pick from all the clucthes.
