Mali shed problem?

K here's the story guys,
I have this uro mali, male.. about 4-5 yrs old now.. he's always had this problem and i don't know why, but he never seems to be able to shed properly. He only shed every like, year lol. but he always seems to have trouble getting it off, and sometimes just gets lazy and doesnt even bother, and then i have to go do it for him; something im never able to do properly.
so whada you guys think?

is this a 'thing' with uros? or what?

fyi: aside form this, hes a perfectly healthy, full of character, wonderful uromastyx.

any suggestions would be awsome

My first suggestion would be to stop helping him remove the shed, if you're pulling it off. If you really feel the need to do something, just rub some mineral oil into the old skin and let it do its thing.

There must be a reason for the shedding trouble. I would look critically over your setup and see if there's something that might contribute to the problem. Is the cage TOO dry? Does he have rocks to rub on if he needs to? Does he have good lighting, including UVB? How is his diet?
