GTP and White Lips?

cruddymutt Feb 25, 2007 03:48 PM

I havent kept reptiles for many years. Back in the day I had tons of herps but a job change and cross country move caused me to sell them. Out of all the reptiles I had, I really enjoyed my White Lip Pythons and My Green Trees.
My wife recently picked up a pair of Bearded Dragons and it kinda relite the spark I once had. I can not decide on whether or not to get another GTP or a White Lip. If I remember correctly, their requirements are pretty close ie. humidity and temperature.

My question is, can these two species be housed together if the size of the enclosure can support two snakes. I am not looking to breed and these will be display pets only. Thanks.

No snake should be housed together, even from the same species, except for mating purposes.

Good luck getting your collection up and running again.

I have been looking at enclosures today and I have found a sweet looking double stacked type cage that would keep them seperate but not take up much room in the family room.

Huh? I keep lots of snakes in multiple animal settings; Scrubs, Spilotes, Red Tailed Greeen Rats, Emeralds, AND Chondros...w/never a problem. I even kept Sand Boas on the bottom of a Chondro enclosure for awhile. I'm sure this will horrify some purists, but the snakes never seem to mind. I separate the Chondros for cycling then reintroduce them for breeding..same w/the Emeralds.

Rarely different species though. I do have a hatchling Scrub and a juvie Ball Python together for the time being.
