Adult Grey Banded KingSnake NOT EATING

nixsys Feb 25, 2007 04:57 PM

Hi,

I'm new to this forum but I need some reasurance from someone, I'm new to keeping Adult KingSnakes, I used to look after some young ones who all used to eat weekly. I recently bought an adult grey banded kingsnake what was unwanted from a local store, the store owner told me that he was eating about once a week on full grown mice. I've had him now just over a month and so far he's only eaten twice. The last time was just over two weeks ago. Since then I've tried feeding him twice with no luck. Now I'm not overly concerned yet as he seems healthy and very active in his new sorounding. I've been keeping his tank at around 78 - 85 degrees letting the temp drop slightly at night. He's housed in a larger tank around 5 feet, long enough that he can stretch right out and not touch either end, and I provided fresh water daily. Is it something I should worry about ?? or is this normal behaviour for an adult ??

Many thanks for any responses.

Mark

on the gray banded kingsnake forum. They have lots more experience with these snakes. It might be something as simple as where you are feeding him, whether he is too shy to eat, mating season, or some other reason. Click on the link below to go to Kingsnake.com gray banded kingsnake forum.

Many thanks I hadn't realised I'd posted to the wrong forum.

Cheers
